Focus India 2023: Where 18 years of tradition meets the future

Two crucial components for an organization’s stability and success in any demanding environment are agility and adaptability. For businesses to be sustainable, they must be adaptable to changing conditions and nimble. Due to the pandemic, the last two years have been challenging privately and on a business scale as well. We have all learned to adapt, be innovative, and agile while working with others.

Short recap on last year: This year we carry on the tradition of 18 successive years of Focus India’s existence. Last year it was possible for the Focus India 2021/22 delegation to visit India again after an absence in traveling. We look back at the promising Focus India 2022 where many interesting companies in Switzerland and India were open to a collaboration either as speakers or as partners. These included BBC Group, swissnex, Accenture, Blaser Swisslube.

On this picture we can see how people react to environmental changes and adapt to them.

Future plans for 2023: The Focus India topic for the upcoming year is: “Unleashing the potential of adaptability and agility”. Adaptability and agility have emerged as critical components for many enterprises as we leave the Covid-19 era. This kind of thinking, along with effective management of personnel, information, and commodities, typically results in a competitive advantage. The purpose of FOCUS INDIA 2023 is to examine the relationship between adaptability and agility in the Indian environment as well as the significance of sustainable decision-making.

Why India?

With a population of around 1.4 billion, India manages to adjust to any given situation at any given time while responding to change. In August 2021, a contactless and cashless tool for digital payments named “e-RUPI” was introduced to by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. This shows us how India endures global digitalization and innovation.

India is known as one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and has a big economic potential. According to a report published by “The Times of India” based on a forecast of the world economic league table, India is about to become the third largest economy by 2030.When it comes to sustainability Indian government is also emphasizing the use of renewable energy sources, with a goal of getting 40% of its energy from non-fossil sources by 2030.

Additionally, it is Switzerland’s fourth-largest trading partner in Asia and the largest in South Asia. Our plan is to get involved with many of the 330 Swiss companies, which do business in India with whom we see the potential for cocreation of value.

All these points add up well with what we are about to discover deeply and work on as well. This shows us the tradition of how important the collaboration between India and Switzerland is. With our project we are happy to contribute to that and deepen our knowledge on our topic of sustainability, adaptability and agility.

“India is a priority for Switzerland. This is emphasized in Switzerland’s foreign policy strategy that seeks to further advance ties with India.” – Livia Leu, Swiss State Secretary for Foreign Affairs
