Once the political centre of the entire Indian subcontinent, Pune these days counts as the cultural capital of the state of Maharashtra. The city is well-known for its automobile industry and we will visit one of the biggest manufacturers of two- and three-wheel-vehicles, Bajaj Auto.
Pune also hosts a number of Swiss companies and thus offers the delegation many opportunities to experience Swiss business in India at first hand. Corporate visits in Pune will also include our Platinum Partner Sulzer Chemtech, our Silver Partner Franke and last but not least, Burckhardt Compression, another Supporter of Focus India.
In the near future, the ninth-biggest city in India will see the introduction of Swiss-standard vocational education programmes in the manufacturing sector. The Swiss Centre of Excellence for Manufacturing will be set up by five Swiss companies, including the Focus India partners Burckhardt and Sulzer and is expected to become operational in 2016-17.
