In the first sneak-a-peek we present you our stop in Mumbai. Mumbai, also known as Bombay, the official name until 1995, is the capital city of the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is the most populous city in India and the ninth most populous agglomeration in the world.

Our first company visit in Mumbai will be the headquarters of Schindler India. “Leadership through Customer Service”, is the cornerstone of Schindler India`s growth strategy which is evident with service presence across 42 major cities including our branch offices in 13 major cities in the country and is head-quartered in Mumbai.

The next stop is the Indian / Western Railways. Merged in 1951, the Western Railway is among the busiest railway networks in India serving entire Gujarat, part of Rajasthan and some portion of Madhya Pradesh. Today, 14 million people are travelling per day by the Indian Railways, more than 6 million people travel per day on Mumbai Suburban section alone.

During our stay in Mumbai, we’ll also visit Magic Bus. Magic Bus steers children towards a better life with better awareness, better life skills, and better opportunities, in the journey from childhood to livelihood. Furthermore, we will go on a slum-tour in Dharavi, Mumbai. Spreading over 200 hectares, Dharavi is home to an about a million people which makes it the biggest slum in Asia. Dharavi has an active informal economy in which numerous household enterprises employ many of the slum residents. Leather, textiles and pottery products are among the goods made inside Dharavi by the slum residents. The total annual turnover has been estimated at over US$500 million. You might know Dharavi from “Slumdog Millionaire” which opened with a 12-minute police chase through the crowded Dharavi slum.
