Switzerland and India may have different cultural and economic contexts, but these differences offer valuable opportunities to learn, challenge existing perspectives and inspire new ways of thinking. In this year’s edition, FOCUS INDIA explores what can emerge when diverse experiences and ideas meet: new insights, new perspectives and new possibilities for the future of business. Under the theme “Shaping Futures Together,” we look beyond borders and industries. Across our four focus areas: Exploring Cultural Diversity, Driving Meaningful Innovation, Building the Future of Work, and Building Sustainable Bridges. We reflect on how exchange can broaden perspectives, inspire innovation and shape the way we think about the future. For us, impact goes beyond the duration of the project. It lies in the perspectives we gain, the ideas we inspire and the connections that continue to influence how we learn, work and collaborate long after the journey has ended.
About The Project
Focus India 2026/27 is built on the theme Shaping Futures Together: Different Perspectives Create New Solutions. Different perspectives, brought together, open space for dialogue, collaboration and mutual learning not despite the differences, but through them. This is exactly the relationship between India and Switzerland: two distinct economic and cultural environments that generate value through exchange, innovation and long-term partnership. Guided by this idea, our project explores how meaningful connections between people, ideas and industries can turn diverse perspectives into new, shared solutions.
Building the Future of Work
Shaping Futures also means building futures. We connect students with international companies, future skills and cross-cultural career opportunities creating pathways between academic knowledge and real-world experience, and preparing the next generation to navigate an increasingly global
working world..
Driving Meaningful Innovation
Innovation rarely happens in isolation. We explore how sustainable technologies, digital transformation and innovative business solutions emerge when different perspectives come together. Combining Swiss precision with India’s dynamism and
entrepreneurial energy, we look at how collaboration can turn ideas into real-world impact.
Exploring Cultural Diversity
Cultural diversity is the foundation of successful international collaboration. India and Switzerland bring different traditions, mindsets and ways of working together and it is through genuine exchange that mutual understanding grows. By engaging directly with Swiss and Indian partners, students, and organisations, we aim to build bridges that connect not just markets, but people.
Building Sustainable Bridges
Long-term partnerships require long-term thinking. We strengthen sustainable collaboration through responsible business practices, Future Health, Zero Emission initiatives and sustainable economic development exploring how growth and responsibility can go hand in hand across both economies.
Seminar in Switzerland
15. to 19. February 2027
During the five-day seminar, participants can look forward to hearing from expert guest speakers, visiting companies, and taking part in additional cultural preparation activities. The final programme will be announced closer to the date.
Seminar Abroad
March/April 2027
During the two-week trip to India, the delegation will experience the local culture first-hand, taking part in on-site company and institution visits. A detailed programme will be provided closer to the date.
About us
Focus India is organised every year by a project team of students from the FHNW.
The team is responsible for building partnerships, planning events, and preparing the study trip to India. They work closely with companies and academic contacts in Switzerland and India.
