Baroda – this “small” city with around 1.7 million inhabitants is going to be visited by Focus India for the first time ever. A great contrast to the big metropole Mumbai and Delhi, delegation, get prepared to get to know a totally different India! Even though Vadodara is the official name of the city, the former name Baroda is still widely used. We spent the weekend in this city and got insights into the culture of Gujarat (the state where Baroda is located, Ghandi was born and no Alcohol is sold), while celebrating the famous kite-festival with an Indian family on the rooftop of their house. This festival is a holiday in this area, and thus all the companies were closed, and unfortunately no company visits were possible. With Corinne Räz, a former project team member of Focus India and currently leading Integra India in Baroda, the program for our stay in Baroda was discussed and planned. As she is living in Baroda since 2010, she had a lot of insights about the Indian culture and business style to share and we are thrilled to have her as a guest speaker on our preparatory seminar. After examining some hotels and restaurants, it was already time to transfer to the small airport, where everything takes time and, patient is required. Before midnight we arrived in Delhi, the last Indian city to be visited before we return back to Switzerland.
