Big Bull temple and monkey bar.

Big Bull temple and monkey bar.

Today was a special day. There were no company visits; therefore we had time for sight-seeing in Bangalore. Some of us explored the city by their own and others joined the organized tour by the Project Team.

The first point of interest was the Bangalore Palace near the hotel. It was built in Tudor style architecture with fortified towers, battlements and turrets.
The next stop was a temple, called the Bull Temple, in the heart of the city. The bull referred to is a sacred Hindu demi-god, known as Nandi; Nandi is a close devotee and attendant of Shiva. Since it is a regularly used temple by locals it gave us a good insight into Hinduism.
The “City Market” that followed was a highlight of the day. It is a local spices and vegetable market with unbelievable colours and fragrances.
The Cubbon Park that was next in line was a little bit a disappointment, because there was nothing to see, so we continued after a short walk to the last stop. In the Brigade Road everyone could buy souvenirs for their friends and families.
Back in the hotel the students had some spare time to reflect on the first half of the trip and to relax before the evening program.

After everybody got ready for dinner, the majority of us took the bus to drive to the Monkey Bar. Some of us couldn’t wait to experience the motorized rickshaw drive, so they went by Tuk Tuk. During the next 3 hours we discussed and laughed over burgers and fries. Table top soccer and pool games followed the delicious dinner. Later,we took Tuk Tuk’s to go back to the hotel and enjoyed some drinks on the rooftop bar.
