Starting off at MDH spices, we had the opportunity to get an insight into a very traditional Indian company which has been operating for more than 93 years. MDH is a family owned, well known, and important company in India. By producing blended spices, which can normal ingredients into the most delicious meals with only a few steps, MDH has made life easier for Indian women. We were most impressed to meet Mr Mahashay Dharmpal, the head of MDH. At 89 years old, he still manages the whole company by himself, working for more than 12 hours a day. Apart from that he is a great religious and spiritual leader in India, praying with his employees every day. Even for us Europeans, who don’t know much about the Hinduism, it was a special experience which made us feel special, honoured and blessed.

Afterwards, we entered such a different world by visiting Genpact. When coming into this modern building with the ‘western-style’ dressed people, it was like a cultural shock for us. Genpact, a consultant company, also has huge call-centres. Even though both companies, MDH and Genpact, operate internationally, we realised a big difference between a family and a non-family corporation.

After having five great days in Delhi we left this big city with its crazy traffic for the small city of Baroda with hundreds of cows.
