After a healthy and balanced breakfast (Donut, Chocolate Croissant, Muffin, eggs, fish….) our busy day started. On our way to the rice factory Kohinoor our bus stopped after 2.5 h drive at a small coffee shop for a short toilet break. While waiting till everybody finished their Chai, the road filled up with cows, sheeps and goats.
At Kohinoor, we were given a short introduction into rice farming and the special Basmati Rice. Afterwards, there was a tour through the factory and the whole process of the rice production was explained. Most of us realised for the first time, how many production steps are necessary in order for us to get the aromatic rice at home. Before departure, Kohinoor served us a great lunch with special Indian Food (Surprise… it was NO rice:)).
Back in the car we spend our time with sleeping or playing “jass” (we are Swiss – a real Swiss tradition.)
In the afternoon, our journey led us to the Swiss Embassy in Delhi. The chargé d’affairs welcomed us and gave an insight into his live in India. Furthermore, Mr Mohinder Nayyar who is the Economic Adviser of the Swiss Business Hub, gave us an overview about the economical and political situation in India. Did you know that 50% of the people in India are under 25 years old? What a difference to Switzerland!
As everyday till now, it was further unexpected day we spend in India.
